Although obsidian appears black in appearance, it still exhibits luster. As a natural mineral, it may contain some natural cracks or bubble inclusions internally. Upon close examination with light, those that appear uniformly jet black are often fake, while genuine obsidian typically exhibits a deep brown or dark brownish-yellow hue when illuminated.
